MedPlaya Hotels recently celebrated 50 years in business and chose Benidorm for the institutional event that reunited the chain’s founder, Narcís Codina i Surós, with the management team and those leading the 15 hotels the group operates throughout Spain: Costa Brava, Barcelona, Salou, Costa del Sol and Benidorm, where it has 4 hotels: Riudor, Regente, Rio Park and Flamingo Oasis.
The hotel chain was first set up in 1967 and has grown alongside the Spanish tourism sector over the years. The group, founded in Girona, today manages beds for more than 8000 guests and gives employment to 1800 people. In Benidorm, it has an average staff of 500 at any one time, and its hotels are extremely popular with the British market as the group have become specialists in this market area.
The 50th-anniversary commemorative event was a simple celebration with the presence of the founding chairman, Narcís Codina, the mayor of Benidorm, Antonio Pérez, and the president of Hosbec, Antonio Mayor.
