It is almost 5 points above the average on the islands
This is a very positive figure as the average occupancy rate in the Balearic Islands was at 89.9%, which is already well above the 76.7% national average during the most popular holiday month of the summer.
The Balearic Islands is the number one destination chosen by non-resident holidaymakers in Spain, with 34.3% of the 58.2 million overnight stays in Spain to date this year.
The hotels belonging to the BlueBay Hotels group in the Balearic Islands recorded an average occupancy rate of 93.65% over the summer, which is three points above the results from 2018 and marks a record result in the history of the hotel chain.
BlueBay Hotels, the 11th largest hotel company in terms of hotels and hotel rooms according to the Hoseltur’s ranking of large hotel chains, has recorded an average occupancy rate of 91.61% in the 22 hotels operated by the group in Spain during June, July, August and September of this year.
This figure is almost 15 points above the national hotel occupancy figure provided by the INE (Spanish National Statistics Institute), which puts the average at 76.7% during the same period according to the 2019 Hotel Tourism Short-Term Trends Survey.
Jamal Satli Iglesias, Chairman of BlueBay Hotels, said: “This year’s figures are very satisfactory for our group, and especially for what we’ve managed to achieve in Majorca. We’ve invested heavily in many of our hotels on the islands recently, so it’s great to see this uptake and our customers’ level of satisfaction. We’ve carried out major renovation work to the rooms, leisure facilities and restaurants at Bellevue Club Mallorca***, which is Europe’s largest holiday resort in its category, and also at Bellevue Lagomonte***, both of which are located in Alcudia. The numbers for Belle Vistanova*** in Magaluf have also been great. The figures speak for themselves. It’s obvious that we’ve enjoyed a very successful season in this world-renowned tourist destination.”
The Balearic Islands is confirmed as the destination of choice
The hotels belonging to the BlueBay Hotels group in the Balearic Islands recorded an average occupancy rate of 93.65% over the summer, which is three points above the figure in 2018 and marks a record result in the history of the hotel chain.
We also have to highlight the impressive results accomplished by Bellevue Lagomonte*** (Alcudia) which enjoyed an occupancy rate of more than 90% from June to September, 99.38% occupancy was recorded in July and September was also exceptional with 99.17%.
These figures are impressive, approaching close to maximum capacity throughout the summer to which we can add solid results in important hotels in the area such as Bellevue Club Mallorca*** with an average summer occupancy of 93.92% and Bellevue Vistanova*** (Palmanova) with 93.63%.
BlueBay Hotels CEO, Ramón Hernández, added: “these record occupancy rates in our holiday products are the results of a long-term strategy that combines ongoing investment to renovate the hotels, a lot of commercial work to find the right partners for each destination and an optimal mix of channels and markets.”
BlueBay Hotels has 11 hotels in Majorca: Bellevue Club*** (which includes Bellevue Leda, Minerva, Sirena, Neptuno, Apolo, Ceres, Diana and Fedra), Bellevue Lagomonte ***, Bellevue Vistanova*** and Bellevue Belsana***.
The hotel group has 3 hotels in the Canaries, all located in Gran Canaria: Bellevue Aquarius***, BlueBay Lanzarote*** and BlueBay Beach Club****. Figures have also been quite positive in this autonomous community, with a far from negligible occupancy rate of 83.82%.
In Andalusia, the group has one hotel, BlueBay Banús**** in Puerto Banús (Malaga), which has also had a fantastic season, reaching an occupancy rate of 91.62%.
BlueBay Hotels’ offer has been attractive enough in the market to monopolise the 1.5% increase in overnight stays in hotels in Spain in August, which reached a total of 46.9 million reservations during the most popular holiday month of the summer season.
