Boí Taüll, the ski station in the Vall de Boí at the heart of the Lleida Pyrenees, received this years’ World Ski Awards scoop the title of Best Ski Resort in Spain. The award bears testimony to the outstanding quality of the Vall de Boí and its ski resort and represents an extra boost for the resort’s team.
The resort entered the Spanish national holiday weekend of 6 to 9 December with optimal snow cover, guaranteeing an excellent start to the season, which, snow and weather conditions permitting, begins on Saturday 1 December.
Among other new initiatives, Boí Taull has frozen the price of ski passes, launched a range of attractive offers via its website, and extended its range of commercial and promotional partnerships with Lleida’s FECOM, Carnet Jove, La Vanguardia and Caprabo among several others.
On the slopes, as well as improvements to restaurant services, the kids’ snow club and services in general, the resort highlighted its new freeride routes, which extend last season’s range. Boí Taüll’s freeriders can also make use of avalanche transceiver check stations at the resort’s main ski lifts, and a bus transport service via dedicated tracks to return to the lower resort area.
For the second consecutive year, the resort enters the winter season in partnership with Helly Hansen. Boí Taüll is the only resort in Spain that is part of the “Ski Free with Helly Hansen” program, alongside other resorts such as Vail and Aspen Snowmass. Again for the second consecutive year, Subaru will be one of the resort’s main sponsors, as “Subaru, official sponsors of winter”.
The ski resort attached to the tourist complex will host numerous competitions at all levels, both professional and amateur. Highlights include the FEDME Spanish Ski Mountaineering Cup, with Vertical (timed ascent) and Sprint events, on 13 and 14 January, and the El Dorado Freeride Junior Tour – FJT, on 20 and 21 January. During the weekend of 1 to 4 March, the resort will host the Snow Gai Weekend, organised by Rainbow Barcelona in collaboration with Locamente.
In terms of freestyle competitions, the 27 January will see the U16 amateur snowboard and ski competition “New Kids on the Snow,” while the “In Elevin Contest,” the amateur snowboard and ski competition for all ages, will be held from 17 to 18 March. Both competitions are organised by Boí Taüll.
