Coming from a family that has always worked in the hotel sector in Spain, Carlos Calero was brought up in hotels alongside his brothers and sister, and together with them and his father, Rufino Calero, he is currently managing the Vincci Hotels chain.
He studied Business and Tourism first and then went on to complete further courses in Hotel Management in the UK and Germany. From a very young age, he started to work during the summer holidays at the head office of Tryp Hotels (founded by his father, Rufino Calero) and gained experience in the Administration, Exploitation and Human Resources departments. He also combined his studies with internships in the reception of several hotels on Gran Vía in Madrid.
He then started as a receptionist in the Tryp Washington Hotel in Madrid in 1983, where he worked in different areas before opting for positions with greater responsibility such as assistant manager and manager of different hotels belonging to the chain. In 1998, he became Director of Expansion and Assistant General Manager of Tryp Hotels, and later in 2001, he created the Vincci Hotels chain with his father and siblings, where he is currently the General Manager.
Vincci Hotels is a chain of hotels with more than 50 years of experience in the sector and a portfolio of 38 hotels spread across Spain, Portugal and Tunisia. Vincci Hotels business model is focussed on four and five-star hotels where each and every, they say, one has a unique, special charm.
