The official date for the second edition of the ATP Challenger in Marbella, Casino Admiral Trophy. The organisation has confirmed the celebration of the tournament for the last week of March, from Monday 25 to Sunday 31, at the prestigious facilities of the Puente Romano Tennis Club.
The celebration of the Marbella Challenger means the consolidation of the city as a reference destination on the international circuit of the ATP Challenger Tour calendar due mainly to the high level of participating players. It’s too early to define the roster, but tournament director Ronald Leitgeb has already announced that he maintains the same purpose of its premiere: “to have the main national and international promises of the racket”.
The return to Marbella as host of a Challenger tournament (second-most important at international level) managed to bring together prominent national representatives.
The event was not missed by the great promise of the Spanish tennis, Alejandro Davidovich (junior champion of Wimbledon 2017), Roberto Carballés, Jaume Munar Enrique Pérez, the veterans Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo and local tennis player, Adrian Menéndez, who is also an ambassador of the tournament.
A national list to which important international players were added such as the Australian Alexei Popyrin (junior champion of Roland Garros 2017); the German of Jamaican origin Dustin Brown, the Israeli Dudi Sela (with 16 individual titles in his trophy list), the Argentinian player Guido Andreozzi (recently included in the top 100) and the Italian Stefano Travaglia, who finally took home the trophy and a cash prize of €6190 from the prize pool of €43,000 of the Marbella Challenger.
For its 2019 edition, Casino Admiral Trophy maintains its calendar of activities in parallel with the intention of attracting a knowledgeable tennis public and new fans during the week of holding the competition. This goal was already achieved last year with the attendance of prominent personalities such as Klaus Hofsäss (former coach of Steffi Graf and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario), August Starek (former Bayern Munich player) and Alfred Gusenbauer (former Chancellor of Austria) and bullfighter Manuel Díaz “El Cordobés”.
