The festival will take place from May 17-21 in the Pasaia Bay, Guipúzcoa, and looks set to be one of the most important events of the year in the Basque Country.
Similar in terms of style and content to other initiatives held around Europe, the event will attract entities and representatives from other maritime cultures around the world to Pasaia and transform it into the European maritime heritage hub for a few days.
The event aims to highlight the maritime heritage of the Basque Country and Pasaia, and become a benchmark through the ambitious programme of activities with all types of proposals. The Guipuzcoan town will host the first edition of the Pasaia Maritime Festival from May 17-21 in and around the bay and focus on two areas, sea and land.
The sea area will serve as meeting point for traditional boats from all over Europe and the land area will cover the four specific areas conceived as villages, where visitors can enjoy numerous activities related to food, crafts and culture.
The biannual festival will bring together boats and their crew from different parts of Europe and offer a variety of cultural and hastronomic activities.
The event hopes to position maritime heritage as a tourist attraction in Pasaia, which couldn’t explain its history and particular characteristics without the sea.
