If you’re one of those people who needs to plan and control everything to the minute, you’re going to love this new feature. A few months ago Google launched “popular times” for bars and restaurants to give you an idea of how crowded a place gets at different times of the day, but now the company has gone one step further and will tell you in real time.
The search engine giant is now able to tell you if the bar or restaurant you’re planning to go for dinner is crowded or not. By using aggregated, anonymised location history data, Google aims to offer more information in real time to help you make decisions and know what’s happening away from your screen.
“You can also check and see how long people generally stay at a given location so you can plan your itinerary to the minute,” explains Jamie Aspinall, Google Product Manager.
It’s a really practical system for all, whether you can’t stand crowded places and are looking for a quieter spot or you think the more, the merrier.
This is especially interesting in the run up to Christmas as it’s an intense shopping period and this new feature will also work in all types of shops and establishments.
