*Norwegian has ordered four ships to be delivered one each year between 2022 and 2025
Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the first images of its new Project Leonardo at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami. Four orders have been placed with the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy, with the first delivery set for 2022. The liner company also has the option to two additional ships that would be delivered in 2026 and 2027.
“We’re looking forward to this exciting new generation of ships. The new, impressive design will offer our guests a flexible onboard experience with an incredible range of offering, integrating indoor and outdoor areas to make them feel more connected with the sea,” said Norwegian Cruise Line’s Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Christian Böll.
The four 140,000 gross tonne ships will each be able to accommodate 3000 passengers. This new class of ships will feature an innovative design enhances passengers’ experience. One of the prototype’s design priorities is energy efficiency, with the aim of optimising fuel consumption and reducing the impact on the environment. Details on the ships’ many innovative guest facing and first at sea features will be announced at a later date.
