Marathon and half-marathon tourism has gained considerable popularity in recent years. Increasing numbers of Spanish tourists are signing up to different organised running competitions, held in the largest cities in Europe and across the world.

Midnight Sun Marathon, Tromsø, Norway
The Midnight Sun Marathon is set to hold its 30th edition in Tromsø, Norway. Thousands of runners from all around the world are due to run across the Arctic and the lands of the midnight sun. The event comprises races of 42km, a half-marathon and a 10k run. Children can also participate in an 800m competition.

Patagonian International Marathon, Chile
The Patagonian International Marathon is held in the Última Esperanza province of Chilean Patagonia, within the Torres del Paine National Park. Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, Scotland

In total, it is made up of the marathons of New York, Boston, Berlin, London, Tokyo and Chicago. Along with the London and Berlin marathons, the one in Chicago is one of the fastest in the world due to its route.

Dubai Marathon
