Car sickness is a widespread complaint, we’ve all suffered from it or at least know someone who has. It’s quite common when car passengers are reading a book or checking their mobile as they need to focus their eyes more.
Now Citroën seems to have found the solution. The French brand Seetroën has developed the first glasses with an efficacy rating of 95% among users who suffer from traffic sickness, a chronic complaint among over 30 million Europeans.
The glasses make it possible for you to read, use your mobile device or simply focus on the road, as they eliminate motion sickness, something that at least one in every three people suffer at some stage in the life.
But, how do they work? You put on the glasses as soon as you feel the first symptoms, after 10 to 12 minutes your mind begins to resynchronise with the movement perceived by the inner ear while your eyes were focused on your phone, tablet or book.
The glasses use Boarding Ring technology developed by a French startup of the same name based in Var in the south of France. The design has a high-tech feel to it with four rings around the eyes recreate the horizon line to resolve the conflict between the senses while the car is moving. Then take the glasses off and enjoy the rest of your journey.
The glasses cost €99, and as they are glassless, can be used over other glasses.
Children under the age of ten cannot wear these glasses as their inner ear hasn’t finished growing, but they generally enjoy the journey more than adults.
