First up is a dish that needs no introduction, Quiche Lorraine, an open pie with cheese, ham and bacon that comes from the Alsace region, although some say quiche actually originated in Germany.

Crepes are another French favourite that is great with both sweet and savoury fillings. The thin pastry is made using eggs, flour and milk, and filling range from ham and cheese to chocolate cream.
